We can be Heroes - David Bowie
Everything is theoretical until it is lived
Everyone mentioned here is a hero, because they are channeling the gods, and that is the very definition of heroic, at least in my book it is. Nowadays, we usually take heroic to mean brave, but there are gods for everything, and bravery is just one option.
Examples, when constructed, will consist of many real life cases of people, some more well known than others, that will illustrate the connection between events, as happened on Earth, and planetary positions as happened against the virtual background of the Zodiac, showing that the events occurred 'as if' they had been constrained to some extent to conform to the type of emergent relationships characterised by the combination of people and planets active in the moment.
N.B. In all of the examples given, the thing to mainly look out for is co-incidence. The meanings of elements, signs, planets, and so forth, are all to be considered arbitrary, at this stage of demonstrating an astrological effect at least. What co-incidence means, in my book, is for two planets to be close enough such that transits to those planets occur within the same mundane events. In this context, the closest sameness is that of the conjunction, where the planets sit in the same sector, and the smaller the sector the more personal the connection. Then we'd have being in another sector of similar element, which is usually what connects planets in trine aspect, when just the quadrant element is different. There is also a kind of watery, hand-in-glove, cup kind of connection in the opposition, where the connection is with otherness that is not the same, but is a mirror image.
What sort of people may be expected to appear as examples?
Pretty much anyone makes a good example, if we were to know enough about what they did, and when. But, on the whole, it is the 'good and the great' who we know a lot about, and so they will feature disproportionately. But also the bad feature, and what should not be overlooked is that all those featured were real people, with real hopes and dreams, most of them launched into extreme situations that perhaps they would not have chosen under different circumstances. So, I am not standing in judgment, except in a handful of the worst cases, and even then I think we should aim for understanding, although it is hard to be dispassionate about the likes of Trump and Putin when they are still a problem for the World.
They say 'Hard cases make bad law', and the reason, I think, is that hard cases have very fine distinctions, and probably lots of nuance, so of course it is hard to draw conclusions. On the other hand, easy cases may not cater for all possibilities, but they can be used to get at some strong principles. So it is with my claims about examples; I say these are good examples because we can know enough about what was going on to draw the correct conclusions about describing that thing with the language of the gods.
How are we to judge whether they were in fact a good example?
I once did a study that I embarked on because I thought that statistics would prove Astrology correct, but what I found is that the answer to that conundrum is a bit more complicated than a straightforward number of transits by conjunction. I had calculated that allowing an orb of 1 degree gave a 1 in 3 probability of one conjunction between planets of any two charts [actually my initial calculation was wrong, at 1 in 6, and it was only by generating lots of random trials that I proved the 1 in 3 statistic, which is exactly what my broad sweep of examples also produced. However, this did give a marker, a starting point for assessing the unusualness of an example, i.e. anything producing conjunctions at a rate of better than 1 in 3, is actually a good example. It also showed that assessing real life events requires a bit more subtlety than I had originally assumed.
So I take examples that are first and foremost interesting stories; some are personal, which works well because I know a lot about my own life and my own family. A lot more examples come from people who have done something unusual, also people who have had unusual relationships, because it is not just when something happens, but the connections between people. In this respect one person can be treated as transits to the other person, and we can observe an emergent relationship in the form of a composite chart calculated from the midpoints between both people's charts. A good few people exhibit conjunctions within their own chart [which would have a different probability altogether], and I will refer to these as planetary pairs. While they are less common than not, they do occur in very interesting examples when both people in some kind of relationship share the same planetary pair. The planet pairs do not have to be in the same position for both individuals, and the relationship does not have to be romantic, it can also be friendships, even being part of a rockband.

And that is just to name but a few
I should add, it would be a mistake to assume that worldly success, or notoriety, is the correct criteria for considering that an individual makes a suitable case as an example. The all-encompassing nature of Astrology means that even the very ordinary has a place, and that the only proper judgment to make is that the events suit the astrological description and demonstrate co-incidence.
Apology
I want to apologise for the incompleteness of examples, all I can say is that time is not on my side. Also, for any mistakes or appearing offensively callous about other people's misfortune, all I can say is that I believe that the message of Virtualism, overall, is too important a thing, and justifies accidentally treading on a few toes - I try not to - mostly, but this is a huge task.
