Pink Floyd's background
Information sourced from Wikipedia.
After the departure of Syd Barrett, the remaining members of Pink Floyd were Rick Wright, Nick Mason, Roger Waters, and David Gilmour.
Roger Keith 'Syd' Barrett (6 January 1946 - 7 July 2006) was an English musician, composer, singer-songwriter, and painter. Best known as a founder member of the band Pink Floyd,
Nicholas Berkeley Mason (born 27 January 1944) is an English drummer, best known as a founder member of progressive rock group Pink Floyd.
George Roger Waters (born 6 September 1943) is an English singer, songwriter, bassist, and composer. In 1965, he co-founded the progressive rock band Pink Floyd
Richard William Wright (28 July 1943 - 15 September 2008) was an English musician, composer, singer, and songwriter. He was a founder member, keyboardist, and vocalist of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd
David Jon Gilmour, CBE (born 6 March 1946) is an English guitarist, singer and songwriter best known as a longtime member of the progressive rock band Pink Floyd. He joined the group as guitarist and co-lead vocalist in December 1967, effectively as a replacement for founder member Syd Barrett, who was dismissed from the band shortly afterwards (April 1968)
March 1983 and the release of The Final Cut saw the beginning of the end of Pink Floyd as it had been. Through to 1986 when Gilmour began recruiting musicians for what would become Pink Floyd's first album without Waters, A Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Clare H. Torry (born 29 November 1947) is an English singer, well-known for improvising and performing the wordless vocals on the song 'The Great Gig in the Sky' on Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
What makes Pink Floyd such a great example?
The outstanding features for Pink Floyd are the two oppositions between the Suns of the band members. These occur in two pairs, the first between the Suns of Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters, in Pisces and Virgo respectively, and the second between the Suns of Rick Wright and Nick Mason, in Leo and Aquarius respectively. The second, being a fixed pair, once established, remain in their groove. It is the first pair that appear to provoke both the creative energy, and the problems that lead to the band splitting. Both Gilmour and Wright want to take something on board, just not from each other.
It is also noteworthy that Syd Barrett, with Sun in Capricorn, aids the Gilmour-Waters opposition, favouring Roger Waters just a little bit more, with a trine, in contrast to the sextile that aspects Dave Gilmour's Sun. From our human perspective we seldom consider events separated by time to be as connected as events separated by space. Syd's role in Pink Floyd may have been earlier than Dave Gilmour's, but it was still relevant to the issues between Dave and Roger.
David Gilmour and Roger Waters

Pink Floyd's guitarist and bass player, David Gilmour [shown inside] and Roger Waters [shown outside] are a great example of two people who bring out the best of each other's talents, but ultimately cannot continue together due to the fundamental difference between them, as indicated by their opposing suns and opposing mercuries.
Rick Wright and Nick Mason

Pink Floyd's keyboards player and drummer, Rick Wright [shown inside] and Nick Mason [shown outside] are interesting in that they echo a similar opposition of suns that is seen with Dave Gilmour and Roger Waters.
Rick Wright and Roger Waters

It is no secret that Rick Wright [shown inside] was sacked from the band, on completion of 'The Wall' in 1979. It is notable that this period, and the tour that followed, also saw Roger Waters' alienation from the others in the band. What is notable astrologically is the comparison of Wright and Waters, where we see so many connections. It is apparent from the astrology that a certain amount of envy, power play, curiosity and projection was likely to occur between these two.
Clare Torry with transits for the recording of 'The Great Gig in the Sky'

Clare Torry [shown inside], although not a band member as such, by improvising vocals to Rick Wright's composition 'The Great Gig in the Sky', became a significant addition to the success of its album. It is notable that astrologically she has no conjunctions with Dave Gilmour, shares a Venus position with Nick Mason, has her Pluto conjunct Roger Waters' Jupiter and North Node, and her Uranus conjunct his Saturn.
But most outstanding, given that he was the composer of the song she sang, is the conjunction of Rick Wright's Mercury and North Node with her Pluto, and his Chiron with her Mars. This is bearing in mind her natal conjunction of Chiron and Mercury. She also shares a similar Sun conjunct Jupiter with him, and these are in trine aspect. In addition, when she recorded her vocal for 'The Great Gig in the Sky' [shown outside], Neptune was conjunct her natal Sun Jupiter, while Mars and Chiron were forming a grand trine with her natal retrograde Pluto.
Maybe just as impressive are the transits for 2005, when Pink Floyd settled a legal case brought by Clare, giving her proper credit, and payment. At the time, Jupiter was conjunct her Neptune, and Neptune and Mars were opposite her Pluto, and Venus, which had been in square to her Neptune at the time of recording, for which she was paid just £ 30, was in a departing trine from her Venus, and the settlement, while secret, was supposed by many to run to six figures.
