Death is a tragedy for all concerned, but there is frequently more than a grain of hope to be found by examining the astrology of those involved in such extreme circumstances. I can't say that death is always a deep and meaningful event, but it is something that we should try to understand, if only because it applies universally.

Frequently death is accompanied by crime, making it impossible to separate the two. As explained on the Crime page, I am often inconsistent in categorization. Also, day to day life keeps throwing great examples my way, and although I try to deal with them adequately, I know each life could be a book in itself, but time just does not permit more indepth treatment, so don't expect everything on a plate.

Reincarnation

Reincarnation is a subject that, like the afterlife, is much talked about, but extremely difficult to prove. Yes, there are cases of children remembering previous lives, or of Tibetan lamas recognizing artifacts from their earlier incarnations. But these accounts are easy to deny by those who wish to be sceptical.

The one thing that we can do with Astrology is compare, contrast, and combine moments, and just as we can combine two births to form a composite chart for the relationship - that can be treated as if it were a third person - we can also combine the birth and the death of one person to create a composite that is the heart of their life. We can also contrast this with the birth of another person, and where we find significant connection, we potentially can take this as supportive of the latter being the reincarnation of the former.

We must bear in mind though, that there is no technical difference between channeling the gods, which we all do in one way or another, and reincarnating a person. Note: I am distinguishing here, between person and personality, because the planets are never in such complete alignment as to allow the precise same personality to manifest in the World. Any hero, or heroine, channels one or more gods to perfection, giving an heroic example of what it means to be that god; any person reincarnating channels sufficient of the same gods that they attained in their prior life, to attach to the moment of birth in the new life. In principle, there is no reason why such a feat should not take place without death intervening, and perhaps that is what occurs when a person is 'born again' rather than actually born again.

One insight that can be gained from understanding that this is the manner in which reincarnation functions, is that this is the working of karma, i.e. you can only be reborn at a moment that suits whatever and whoever you are, so in a very true sense you are stuck with being yourself, until you learn how to change and progress. It also shows that each life is both a privilege and a curse, but that there is no escaping it, nor any need to escape it. Life is both awful and wonderful; ernest and fun; something to be both cherished and enjoyed, yet suffered along with everyone else.

That is the paradox that makes life such an amazing thing.

It is also the reason why we would all do well to try to improve the World, because sure as eggs is eggs, we will be coming back, and we have no way of ensuring that we will be either prince or pauper.

NDE

Often NDEs start with a person experiencing darkness - what is that all about?

The answer is that we are all individuals, each one of us an island by virtue of that individuality, and when we experience our self-ness, then we know no other thing - except the self which we are used to - so we don't register anything for a while, then that which is in us and is in others starts to take effect, first and foremost because all things have unity, and so all things have at least that in common. But, all the things you have in common with others will drag you to those others, or that otherness, and that is like being drawn to the light, and from then, wherever you heart is, that is where you are - you are connected to whatever that is, so things aren't dark empty void anymore.

From that explanation it is clear that the more shared aware experience you have in life, then the more connection you will have in the hereafter. That means the more you love here, the better off you will be there.

There are many other examples that include death as a focal point of the events that people either lived through, or didn't. Take a look at Crime (go to page) Soldiers (go to page) or Voyagers (go to page) for many such examples.
