Vishwash Kumar Ramesh's background


Vishwash Kumar Ramesh was the only survivor of Air India Flight 171. When the plane crashed at 13:38 on 25 June 2025, just 32 seconds after take off, he miraculously, and literally, walked from the wreckage.


One ever present question, when some survive when others do not, is why them?. Both for the survivors themselves, and uninvolved observers, the question of survival raises many, often conflicting, emotions and thoughts. The fear of flying makes survivors of plane crashes even more pertinant to questions about life and death.


One other strange coincidence is that Vishwash lives, or lived, in a road named Smith-Dorrien Road, and Horace Smith-Dorrien was one of only five officers to survive the massacre at Isandlwana in 1879. Of course, this is always assuming that the data is for the correct Vishwash Kumar Ramesh. Perhaps there are more than one in Leicester. In any case, ploughing ahead with the assumed data still illustrates some of the challenges present when dealing with real life situations and the many absences of complete data that often occur.

We have very precise data for the crash of Air India Flight 171, but the only data we have for Vishwash is his birth being in August 1986. However, we can still see much that would apply to anyone born that month, and perhaps even make a guess about the most outstanding day, or days, that month - so we may be able to suggest likely days for his birthday, based on the astrology being more notable.
