Arthur John Priest's background

Arthur John Priest was a stoker on four different ships that sank, including RMS Titanic, and two that came close. These incidents occurred between 1911 and 1917.

RMHS Asturias was torpedoed on 20 March 1917, off Start Point, Devon, but Arthur John Priest was not on board

Note. Arthur John Priest was born with a trine from Jupiter to Chiron, and a square from Jupiter to Mars and Saturn, and for many of the events Neptune was either close or on Saturn and Mars, while Pluto was close or on Chiron.

The Sinking of RMS Titanic and Arthur John Priest

It is notable that there were no conjunctions for Arthur John Priest when the Titanic sank, suggesting that for him the experience was all about what happened to others.

The Sinking of HMS Alcantara and Arthur John Priest

HMS Alcantara was sunk in combat with SMS Greif [also sunk]. Over 70 of Arthur John Priest's shipmates were killed but he survived with shrapnel wounds.

The Sinking of HMHS Britannic and Arthur John Priest

The Britannic sank at the time of Arthur John Priest's Saturn return, but also trines to and from Jupiter which would traditionally be considered lucky.

Also on board the Britannic were fellow Titanic survivors Archie Jewell and , who also survived this time.

The Torpedoing of RMHS Asturias and Arthur John Priest

When Asturias was a hospital ship and torpedoed, off the Devon coast, Arthur John Priest was not involved, and although the outer planet transits look bad for him, there was less indication from the transits of personal involvement, unlike with the sinking of the SS Donegal a short while later.

The Sinking of SS Donegal and Arthur John Priest

What becomes transparently clear with the sinking of SS Donegal, the final such event of Arthur's career at sea, is the grand trine that can perhaps be seen as protective, or even lucky, or at the least highlights those qualities in the Jupiter Chiron trine - an aspect inherent in Arthur that we could interpret as having an awareness when disaster strikes, and perhaps we should read it as the Jupiter is for him and the damage from Chiron is to others, one of the features of the trine aspect.

Arthur John Priest injured his head and took no further part in the war. The sinking was less lucky for fellow Titanic survivor Archie Jewell, who was drowned.

Archie Jewell's background

Archie Jewell was crew on three of the same ships as Arthur John Priest, including RMS Titanic, where he was a lookout though not on duty at the time of the sinking, HMHS Britannic, and SS Donegal in which he was drowned.

After the sinking of the Britannic, Archie Jewell wrote the following in a letter to his sisters '...most of us jumped in the water but it was no good we was pulled right in under the blades...I shut my eyes and said good bye to this world, but I was struck with a big piece of the boat and got pushed right under the blades and I was goin around like a top...I came up under some of the wreckage ... everything was goin black to me when some one on top was strugling and pushed the wreckage away so I came up just in time I was nearly done for ... there was one poor fellow drowning and he caught hold of me but I had to shake him off so the poor fellow went under.'

The Sinking of RMS Titanic and Archie Jewell

It is notable that there were only beneficial conjunctions for Archie Jewell when the Titanic sank, suggesting that for him the bad things of the experience were all about what happened to others. The possible exception is transiting Uranus conjunct his natal Mars, the focus of which finds echoes in transits to his natal Mars on later voyages.

The Sinking of HMHS Britannic and Archie Jewell

The Britannic sank off the Greek island of Kea.

Also on board the Britannic were fellow Titanic survivors Arthur John Priest and Violet Jessop, who both survived again.

Notable for Archie Jewell was that transiting Mars was trine his natal Saturn, while transiting Saturn was opposite his natal Mars. This finds echoes in the eventual drowning when Donegal sank.

The Sinking of SS Donegal and Archie Jewell

What seems to have finally done for Archie Jewell was the Neptune opposition to his natal Mars. It also reflected the natal Mars to Neptune trine, so maybe we should interpret this as what had once come easily, a career at sea, now gave him difficulties. The opposition suggests that someone else was involved, and perhaps this was so, because

Notable for Archie Jewell was that transiting Mars was trine his natal Jupiter, while transiting Neptune was opposite his natal Mars. This finds echoes in the earlier sinking of Britannic, and perhaps even his Titanic experience when transiting Uranus was conjunct his natal Mars.

Violet Jessop's background

Violet Jessop was aboard both RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic, as a stewardess, and RMS Britannic as a nurse when they either collided and/or sank.

Note. Violet Jessop was born with .

When the Britannic sank, Violet Jessop suffered a blow to her head as she was swept under the keel of the ship, but luckily she survived this.
