What makes Etty Hillesum such a great example?

Etty Hillesum's background

Etty Hillesum was a fairly ordinary Dutch wooman, who also happened to be a Jew at a time and a place when people like her were being murdered on an industrial scale. The consequence was that Etty too was incarcerated at Westerbrok, and then sent to Auschwitz, where she was killed on 30 November 1943.

What makes Etty different is that she kept a diary fom March 1941, so we know something of her life and personal experience, and even more remarkably, during this time she seems to have undergone a spiritual awakening that has majorly impressed those who have read her diaries and letters. .
