Albert Gunter's background

Albert Gunter was a London Bus driver and on 30 December 1952 he found that Tower Bridge started to open as he was driving his bus across it. Faced with the dilemma of either stop and slide backwards, perhaps tipping off the bridge, or brave the gap, Albert, a former tank driver, promptly decided to go for it, accelerate, and jump the slowly widening gap.

Not only did he answer his own dilemma of what to do in the heat of the moment, but also answered a question posed by the bridge itself from the day it opened - what would happen to a vehicle crossing as the bridge opened? Could a vehicle jump the gap? Albert was the focus as two of the greatest London icons joined together in dramatic fashion

Birth of Albert Gunter

What is particularly notable is that not only was Albert Gunter born with Sun, and possibly Moon, well balanced between an opposition of Neptune and Uranus, but on the day of the jump that opposition was picked out by a conjunction of the Sun with his natal Uranus.

Sadly, we don't know exact times, either for Albert's birth, nor the bridge jump, although it has been claimed to have been in the evening. So I have set his birth at midday, and the jump at 6pm. But I have also discounted Earth and Moon positions.

The Opening of Tower Bridge and the time Albert Gunter jumped it in a Bus

After 8 years of construction work, Tower Bridge opened on 30 June 1894, and it is perhaps not so surprising to see that the obvious question posed by the bridge, was later answered is such stunning style, but the astrology of the two events also shows that connection.
