Gustaf Håkansson's background

Gustaf Håkansson was a bus driver from Sweden who in 1951, at the age of 66, unofficially tagged along in a 1764 km bicycle race the length of Sweden, and by dint of just keeping going, sometimes for as long as 3 days on end, he managed to finish in 6 days 14 hours, 24 hours ahead of the other racers.

Perhaps as remarkable is that Gustaf's race started a month beforehand, as he cycled the length of Sweden, from his home in Helsingbord to the race start at Haparandar in the North, before the actual race South to Ystad.
