Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte was the only son of Napoleon III, who was killed during the Zulu Wars, on the 1st June 1879. His death was largely his own fault, and due to his rash and unruly behaviour.


Following the prince's death, Lieutenant Jahleel Brenton Carey, who had volunteered to lead the small group of soldiers accompanying the Prince, was court martialled, but found to be not at fault.
