Essex Boys was the fictionalised account of the murder of three drug dealing bouncers in 1995, tenuously connected to the death from ecstasy and water, of Leah Betts. The connection was only made by conjecture in the press, and coincidence.

It has to be made very clear that in looking at such examples, finding any apparent astrological connection does not imply that any active personal involvement took place. The nature of life, and astrology, is that events may involve an individual in a causal manner, or as a witness, or as a bystander; one's involvement may be material, emotional, intellectual, or spiritual, and may occur simply because of shared archetypal patterns. In what follows we may see shared patterns, but these show how moments affect many people, from many different angles.

Anthony Tucker 19571117 and Patrick Tate 19580807

On the 6 December 1995, Anthony Tucker, Patrick Tate, and Craig Rolfe b.1969, were murdered in a triple killing, shot as they sat in a Range Rover, parked down a remote country lane near Rettendon, Essex. Their bodies were not discovered until the next day.

Jack Whomes b.1961, and Michael Steele b.1944, were convicted of the murders on 20 January 1998, and sentenced to life imprisonment. The key witness was police informer Darren Nicholls. Unfortunately I have not found data for these individuals.

Leah Betts was the 18 year old daughter of ex-policeman Paul Betts, whose dying picture appeared in the press when her father publicised the dangers of drugs, after she died as a consequence of taking ecstasy and drinking too much water, too quickly, and so suffered hyponatremia - low blood sodium, on 16 November 1995.

Paul Betts, in 1995, was a newly retired police inspector, with a business in clay pigeon shooting, that some reports say gave him an alibi for the time of the Rettendon murders.

The suggestion in the media is that the Rettendon murders were a gangland killing, in consequence of Leah's death aggravating some gang situation, possibly even involving the police, or attempting to influence the police.

There are many unknowns in this case, but contrasting people for whom we do have dates shows some very interesting astrological connections, most notably between Leah's father, Paul Betts, and the murdered body builder, Patrick Tate.

As is so often the case between parent and child, there are significant astrological connections between Paul Betts and Leah Betts. Most outstanding is that Leah's Venus is precisely opposite Paul's Venus, but is also precisely conjunct his Chiron, which gives the very obvious conclusion of the otherness between his aesthetics and hers, together with the wounding effect this had on him. To put that more bluntly, as with many fathers, he could not approve of her tastes, probably in boyfriends, but certainly in drug use.
