Charles Jackson French's background

Charles Jackson French was one of the crew of the USS Gregory, sunk near Guadalcanal at 1:00 am on the 5 September 1942. He found himself on a sinking lifereaft with 15 wounded crewmates, in shark infested waters and in danger of capture and possible execution by the Japanese. What he did was truly heroic, above and beyond the call of duty; without being asked, he tied a rope around his waist and jumped into the sea to swim through the night towing the others to safety and rescue.

At 01:23, the Japanese ships began shelling again, aiming at the helpless survivors of Gregory's crew in the water, which we can assume is when Charles started swimming. It is reported he kept going until rescued as sunrise, which would have been between dawn starting at 5.21am, and actual sunrise at 6.19am.

The outstanding features are the conjunctions marked below which reflect the significance of Charles' natal Mercury, Venus, and Mars. The transits of Chiron and Neptune are also important, especially Chiron/Mars marking such a feat of endurance.
